Yae give it a break....let them get through 2801 and 8008.....besides this filing thing for them is a cash cow.....Conductor and Bus Operator use to be the same test....then they figured they were missing out on alot of money and seperated them.....so save your money man and just wait......

For the cleaner/helper test, there is a hard one and easy one. Depends on how many people the company needs. The test is a mix of safety, basic automotive mechanics, and basic math. One the easy test, its mostly math and safety questions and a little bit of auto mechanics. On the hard one its mostly math and more advance level automotive and little bit safety. To pass these tests you gotta have some knowledge of tools and automotive stuff. Safety is mostly common sense stuff and math, you can use a calculator.

That is very true Seal and Igor, they make a lot of money selling these "study guides" that most likely have outdated information. Nobody can predict in advance what questions will be on the exam. Sure they have pages of practice questions but so what? They even have an entire chapter on how to prepare for the exam, getting plenty of rest, etc. All of us know all this since the 1st grade.

It might be just cleaning buses, but in this economy expect a high turnout for the exam, the lower the qualifications the higher the turnout. DSNY had 32,000+ for the 2007 exam, all you need is a H.S Diploma and CDL B permit.

This isn't your ordinary minimum wage cleaning job, this is a solid paying union position. I think the bus cleaning list will be twice the size of the B/O list(8006).

that is right but it is tilted mabstoa and mta bus cleaner it`s not a civil service test is it just a random list number .

Oh, ok, I didn't know that. So we have to send in a coupon with our registration free and then wait until they mail you the list number?

The Mabstoa/MTA B/O is a written exam right? that is the one that I am interested in. I want to see of I can better my score from the 8006 exam, got an 85, 12 wrong! I know a lot more now about the bus world then I did when I took exam 8006 last spring.

Igor said in a very heavy Russian accent

"Mabstoa/MTA B/O i`m not sure about that one if it`s a written exam but i`m gonna take a guess and say no i think it`s just a random list number i`ll find out some how but that one i`m very interested in this one to."

It figures, so that way they don't have to pay money for test monitors, test locations, security, etc, more money in their pocket.B)

So even though MTA Bus now has the same labor contract as TA, they are still not considered civil service?

About MTA cleaner helper! What are the requirement to have this position? I have my HS diploma, driver licence but not the CDL! I check the website and i see nothing about CDL.

It's best to get your CDL Class BP on your own with a driving school so you don't have to deal with DMV again when your road test comes for transit. Even though you still have to take MTA's road test to be in good standard when you're operating there buses.

Do yourself a favor and don't buy any of those books from that store. I have gotten books from them and all of them where a waste of time and were all outdated. All the books are just a series of multiple choice test. You can get the answer at the back of the book but they don't explain to you why those answers are right.
