MTR Admiralty Posted August 8, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 8, 2009 I don't think this thread belongs in the B&T forum. This is more of a DOT thing than a MTA thing.

metsfan Posted August 10, 2009 Share #7 Posted August 10, 2009 I don't think it will be an issue. Most dangerous intersection(s) in the US are actually a series of multi-lane roads that cross 12 lanes of route 1 locally called roosevelt ave in philly. It's so bad they actually put cameras up and sensors that allow warning lights to flash if movement is detected that creates a conflict. The intersections themselves are more than 16 lanes, because rt 1 widens with additional turning lanes. They also added the turning lanes to improve safety. It remains #1 on every road safety list as a hazard, however it is much safer than it used to be. 100 people or so used to die there a year. The 12 lanes are 4 groups of 3, 2 in the middle for going straight through, and 2 on the outside for local traffic Separating them are 12 foot wide grass landscaped medians. The other roads are 4-6 lanes. - A
EE Broadway Local Posted August 10, 2009 Share #8 Posted August 10, 2009 I think Southern Boulevard has some intersections pedestrians should be careful crossing and also Fordham Road and Third Avenue.
Orion Posted August 10, 2009 Share #9 Posted August 10, 2009 How about the street right in front of West Farms Depot? Damn near impossible to cross no matter who got the light.
