Helicopter, small plane collide, crash in Hudson River

Recommended Posts

Nine people were killed on Saturday after a spectacular midair crash sent a low-flying plane and a tourist helicopter spiraling from a clear blue sky into the Hudson River.

The dead included five Italian tourists just seconds into a sight-seeing tour above the city, both pilots and two passengers on the small single-engine plane - including a 15-year-old. Three bodies were recovered.

"Sadly, it appears to us at this point that this was probably not survivable," said a somber Mayor Bloomberg. "This is not going to have a happy ending."

When i was watching the live cnn feed online, it was so strange, i saw the HBLR train going southbound.... Boats moving around looking for anything. The barge with the crane used to pull the us airways plane up out of the water is still there about 1000 feet upriver on the NJ side. Very weird seeing hoboken terminal so plainly like that.
