Harry Posted November 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2007 we had to deal with this. Or at least some of us did. I never rode the from Stillwell Av but I could imagine it must have been a pack train every morning. The ( was removed from the West End line. The was removed from the Brighton line. The was the only train terminating at Stillwell Av.

Brighton Local Posted November 21, 2007 Share #3 Posted November 21, 2007 I hated the ride on the B68 between Brighton Beach and Stillwell Av; and vice-versa..
Pablo M 201 Posted November 21, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 21, 2007 Yeah, that wasn't such a great time. I rarely ever went to CI when the service was like that. I only went to the Aquarium once during that time and didn't return to the area for a long time.
RTOMan Posted November 21, 2007 Share #5 Posted November 21, 2007 I remember that when i was in Schoolcar when i first started.. Riding that Wiskey to 25th Ave to go to The Box.. BMT4Life Posted November 22, 2007 Share #6 Posted November 22, 2007 I never realized that the N didn't have a shuttle bus or a route on the main map. 86 Street was on the other side of the CI Shops which was a pretty long trip to Stillwell. Was there a shuttle or route bus from 86 to Stillwell?
Brighton Local Posted November 22, 2007 Share #7 Posted November 22, 2007 I never realized that the N didn't have a shuttle bus or a route on the main map. 86 Street was on the other side of the CI Shops which was a pretty long trip to Stillwell. Was there a shuttle or route bus from 86 to Stillwell? Nope. Some options were: 1.) W from Pacific or 36 Sts to Stillwell 2.) N to New Utrecht-62nd St for the W 3.) Exit at 86 St and walk And / Or the B1 Bus to either A) Avenue X F Station for the F Shuttle Bus or to the 25 Av station for the W. Nothing connecting Gravesend-86 St to Coney Island-Stillwell Av Direct.
sebbieprops Posted November 23, 2007 Share #8 Posted November 23, 2007 I'm not from that area, so I don't remember it.
BMT4Life Posted November 23, 2007 Share #9 Posted November 23, 2007 Nope. The connections at 36 and Pacific must have been major transfer points during this time. Not like they are not now, it must have been even busier then.
Brighton Local Posted November 23, 2007 Share #10 Posted November 23, 2007 Your not kidding. Plus - 4 Av/9 St , the transfer between F and W riders. Remember the W replaced the N weekends, so it ran Local from Astoria to Coney Island in both directions.
Harry Posted November 23, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted November 23, 2007 This is the one that I couldn't wait for to be completed. During the 80s I always wondered what it would be like to see all four tracks of the Manhattan bridge running trains.
Brighton Local Posted November 23, 2007 Share #12 Posted November 23, 2007 This is the one that I couldn't wait for to be completed. During the 80s I always wondered what it would be like to see all four tracks of the Manhattan bridge running trains. I felt the same way. I always wanted to see the Manhattan Bridge with Yellow and Orange lines crossing simultaneously; plus the Brighton with 2 different colors as opposed to just orange or just yellow. Now its both..
