FamousNYLover Posted August 15, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2009 I know I ask too much questions. If Bus Rapid Transit was built across the railroad or lightrail tracks, BRT has to yield right of way to train, right?
metsfan Posted August 15, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 15, 2009 On lines where trollies run with busses in short stretches where routes overlap, the trolly has priority, any paved road vehicle will have lower priority than rail most of the time since rail is typically on a schedule. If a trollybus is in question, it has to obey normal traffic DOT rules. If it's rail, then it has to obey the FRA (or similar entity) and transit agency policies. BRT has priority over normal paved road traffic, however it very often has its own lanes, so priority isn't an issue & it also has to comply with DOT rules for paved road vehicles. - A
