Trainspotter Posted November 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 24, 2007 Transit Strike Across France Winds Down PARIS, Nov. 23 — The transportation strike that snarled traffic, shortened tempers and frayed the fabric of daily life in France for 10 days wound down on Friday, with most trains, buses and subways rumbling back into service. President Nicolas Sarkozy savored his triumph in the clash of wills over his proposed pension changes for rail workers, but there were still signs of resistance, and at least one militant union promised another strike if talks did not progress. “My first thoughts,” Mr. Sarkozy said, “go out to the millions of French who need the trains, Métros and buses to get to work but could not take it anymore after 10 days of this hardship.” Full story: NY Times - November 24, 2007
Pablo M 201 Posted November 25, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 25, 2007 Man, its about time. Things were getting worse and worse everyday it went on. I can imagine the chaos if a transit strike went for that long around here now and days.

R1Toasty Posted November 25, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 25, 2007 Good thing its over, the cities fall apart without the mass transportation that they grew up on. The city is the body and the transportation is its blood.
