Trainspotter Posted November 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 28, 2007 MTA chief wants billions to revamp system The MTA's chief says the agency has seen the future, and it will take between $5 billion and $10 billion to gird the transit system for the million additional New Yorkers expected by 2030. Executive director Elliot Sander will present a capital plan to the state legislature in March, covering 2008 through 2013, that is loaded with commute-speeding projects. They could include updating the subway's signal system with a computer-based communications system, running Metro-North Rail Road trains into the future Moynihan Station on the West Side, and adding a 10-mile third track to the Long Island Rail Road's Main Line.
