INDman Posted September 6, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 6, 2009 I'm wondering are their any videos or DVD/VHS around that show the R10 cars in action at all? I just purchased Jacob's Ladder for $7 and I was pretty pleased with the whole movie and the scene where the R10s are shown was awesome! The R10s in the movie sound just like the R32s not the Arnines as I always thought. Well the R10s were the first SMEE car for the NYCTS.
R44 5278 Posted September 6, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 6, 2009 Well the R10s were the first SMEE car for the NYCTS. Weren't the R1s the very first SMEEs?

INDman Posted September 6, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 6, 2009 R1-9s all had AMUE electric-pneumatic brakes. R10-42 SMEE. Don't forget that SMEE also includes post GOH R44/46 and R62/A and R68/A. The R44/46 used a P-wire system when they were brand new. All rolling stock prior to the R10 that operated in the subway were AMUE.

SubwayGuy Posted September 7, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 7, 2009 Don't forget that SMEE also includes post GOH R44/46 and R62/A and R68/A. The R44/46 used a P-wire system when they were brand new. All rolling stock prior to the R10 that operated in the subway were AMUE. Except the Hi-V's which were AMRE, and the elevated cars which were AML.
INDman Posted September 7, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 7, 2009 Except the Hi-V's which were AMRE, and the elevated cars which were AML. AML is on an El car, not a subway car buddy. Remember the last time an El train was in a subway tunnel, they had to rename a street because of it.
SubwayGuy Posted September 7, 2009 Share #9 Posted September 7, 2009 Remember the last time an El train was in a subway tunnel, they had to rename a street because of it. Well then technically it WAS a subway car... ..just not a very good one...

SubwayGuy Posted September 7, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 7, 2009 Let me guess the Malbone Street wreck right? Back on topic. Jacob's Ladder is like the only DVD/VHS that I've seen that features the R10s so far. Yup that's what Matted was referring to...Malbone St now = Empire Blvd.

EE Broadway Local Posted September 11, 2009 Share #13 Posted September 11, 2009 I liked the R10s when they were on the 70(A) and in the turquoise and ivory paint scheme. They didn't seem to be as fun when they went to the 70(CC) and the 70(GG). I recall how their windows lowered from the top on the outside.
