jeffmorris Posted September 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2009 I was watching "The Devil and Mrs. Jones" movie that was made in 1941 and was set in New York City. On the way home from the beach at Coney Island, I thought that the actors were riding on IND R1-R9 subway train but I found out that they were riding on BMT Standard train. I knew that BMT tested IND R1 subway cars in 1930s before the opening of the NYC IND subway system in 1932. I knew that IND R1-R9 subway trains ran on Culver route after the connection of BMT and IND systems in Brooklyn in 1954 (?). Did BMT run IND R1-R9 subway trains on BMT system after 1930s and before 1950s?
Eric B Posted September 8, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 8, 2009 They borrowed IND cars at times in that period, but it was not common enough for there to be enough of an association for the movie.
