AJ023 Posted September 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2009 So no mention of the M9 LIRR cars? Are they coming in 2010 or 2011 before East Side Access is finished?
Forest Glen Posted September 12, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 12, 2009 I never heard of them. Would there be any tangible difference between them and the M7?
Fan Railer Posted September 12, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 12, 2009 So no mention of the M9 LIRR cars? Are they coming in 2010 or 2011 before East Side Access is finished? they havent even left the design table yet, much less ordered. more like 2014-2015 if we're lucky. and they'll probably look like the M-7's updated. gregorygrice Posted September 13, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 13, 2009 I think they meant M7 because the M3s on the LIRR are already replaced by the M7 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M7_(railcar)
metsfan Posted September 13, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 13, 2009 The M9's will also have 3rd rail/pant for MNRR, for LIRR just 3rd rail. I doubt they will look much different from the M8 at least on the outside. - A

Cait Sith Posted September 13, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 13, 2009 First and Foremost, Wikipedia is plagued with false information. I rather get news from a much more reliable source than wikipedia. 2nd. the M-9 has not even been set in stone yet. Its still speculation.
2Line1291 Posted September 13, 2009 Share #12 Posted September 13, 2009 It does say something about the M9 and Metro-North http://www.mta.info/mta/budget/july2009/july09_vol2part3.pdf - Its on pg. 31 (IV-19) and its called the M9 Specification Development and its to be completed by November 2009. Grand Concourse Posted September 13, 2009 Share #13 Posted September 13, 2009 First and Foremost, Wikipedia is plagued with false information. I rather get news from a much more reliable source than wikipedia. 2nd. the M-9 has not even been set in stone yet. Its still speculation. The only thing I care about for the M9 is they get the seating right and making them as wide as the M1/3 seats and not have the seats face each other, but away. Also they should have the ada bathroom at the end of the car than towards the middle. Those stuff are what I hate about the M7. I don't mind a ride on the M7 so long as I have a 2-seater to myself or only one other person sits on a 3-seater. But when someone sits with me on a 2-seater, the ride is totally unbareable.
