Question about City Hall station

Anyone remember an old exit from the City Hall station that went to the Woolworth Bldg? Or at least the exit at the far south end of the station. Or was it just my imagination.

 

If so, where was the exit on the street?

And, think it would be possible to connect it to the Park Place station.

I don€ remember any of that, but I do know there are walled off stairways or something at the other end. I assumed they probably went to the lower level.

I remember passing through the station in the early 70's, but I was not paying attention to the exits.

So I wonder how long ago this might have been open.

The exit is still there but it is now used by the station dept. for special cleaning ops. It is on the very south end and did go right into the Woolworth Building just south of the corner at Park Place. It did not exit to the street.

In that area there is a section of sidewalk the size and shape of a subway entrance.

At city hall, coming N/b, how come the south end of the station on the ®/(W) has that extra clearance for the right of way? Was the platform reconfigured & slimmed down at one time to reduce the tight radius the tracks would have taken had the hugged the wall?

The tracks there are odd because of a tunnel yard underneath.
