MAA89 Posted October 8, 2009 Share #26 Posted October 8, 2009 I view the discarded cards at station as a stimulus package to the less fortunate living, if they combine enough of those insufficient fare cards, they can board a subway car and hassle and annoy other commuters. And that is exactly why people shouldn't throw theirs out on to the floors of subway stations. I don't like panhandlers annoying me thanks to the generosity of people who happily throw their money away.
jacsnyy Posted October 8, 2009 Share #27 Posted October 8, 2009 I pick up blank cards on the ground all the time instead of buying a single ride in order to keep a transfer, cause i think its pretty ridiculous you don't get a transfer with a single ride. EE Broadway Local Posted December 1, 2009 Share #28 Posted December 1, 2009 Metrocards seem a little durable - why not keep refilling one until the expiration date then replacing it?

If U use it on a bus, U can request for a paper transfer for the next bus!
Noflexdont Posted December 1, 2009 Share #30 Posted December 1, 2009 No, you can not. a single ride is just that. A single ride. if you do buy a single ride read the front of it. it says something along the lines of no train-bus transfers and good for 2 hours. Grand Concourse Posted December 1, 2009 Share #31 Posted December 1, 2009 Yup, they pretty much discourage the use of the single ride card with those restrictions. And makes sense since people would just toss it away after one use. If they want a card, they should buy the minimum of 2 rides.
MAA89 Posted December 2, 2009 Share #32 Posted December 2, 2009 If U use it on a bus, U can request for a paper transfer for the next bus! Can you? I don't think so. The Single Ride Ticket does say No Bus-to-Bus transfer, as well as subway-bus or bus-subway. The paper transfer is issued only when coins are used and exact fare is paid, and a transfer is issued. Nope, you'd have to pay another $2, but if you're on the bus you can then ask for another bus transfer after putting your money in the box.
