Dan05979 Posted September 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2009 Not for nothing but there were some cars with some amazing artwork, i was a lil kid during that time and man i loved it, it made the subway system so "mysterious and dark"

Art Vandelay Posted September 27, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 27, 2009 The spray paint itself does not damage the metal at all. It is the wash that was used to remove the spray paint that had negative effects on the condition of the underlying metal based both on its damage to the metal and to the underlying paint. Taged R68s, R32s, R42s. The graffiti era is not making a come back, what you see today is nothing like it was back in the 70's and 80's. Also, they sometimes put scrap cars on 1st Av and 47th street. They have not had cars down there in a while but, it is still TA property.

The graffiti "era" in the subway is long dead, however, graffiti in the subway will never die...if that makes sense. Graffiti will always be a problem, but not the way it was back in the day.
