R10 2952 Posted October 8, 2009 Share #26 Posted October 8, 2009 The R36ML's could have lasted for another 3 years, They were in the best shape. Probably because there were only 34 of them.
R32 Anthony Posted October 12, 2009 Share #27 Posted October 12, 2009 I used to love riding them to go see the Mets play at Shea Stadium. I would ride up front by the RFW, loved seeing Shea Stadium come out from the forest of buildings and trees as the train got closer. From 1979 to 2003, I use to ride the first car and see Shea Stadium too. I miss that! When the retired the redbirds, going to Shea was missing something fun. Now Wilpon's field (AKA Citi Field) has replaced Shea (Physically) it is no longer fun to watch the Mets. I still love the Mets, but not Citi Field or the R62's. cotb16 Posted October 12, 2009 Share #28 Posted October 12, 2009 I rode the RedBirds as a kid living in Morrisania from 1995 to 2001. Most of the time, it was to take the to City Hall or to 59th Street. I always loved how these trains stood out among the stainless steel cars.
