Bad move by Manuel, why not use Lee? Why did he have to announce it so soon? Girardi is going to wait until after game 3 tomorrow night to announce game 4 starter. This is the World Series, it's all or nothing.
Grand Concourse Posted October 31, 2009 Share #128 Posted October 31, 2009 As I said, you don't know how effective Lee will be on short rest and he pitched a CG, that'll tire anyone out. They're better safe than sorry. Plus Manuel admitted that Sabathia can get away with short rest cuz he's big. Lee isn't. That's the difference. B35 via Church Posted November 1, 2009 Share #129 Posted November 1, 2009 Great.. another rainout. So much for Jeter being "Mr. November"... If this series goes 6 or 7, we'll be well into the first week of november...

B35 via Church Posted November 1, 2009 Share #131 Posted November 1, 2009 The game is starting at 9:15. Oh it is... Good ... So ESPNews lied to us then. I'm still sick of these rainouts though... this had to be one of the longer seasons in MLB history... they really need to trim the # of games/season.... baseball in november is a bit much. Forest Glen Posted November 1, 2009 Share #132 Posted November 1, 2009 The World Series used to end around October 25th. However, since Fox insist on having 3 days off between games we have baseball in November.

Grand Concourse Posted November 5, 2009 Share #143 Posted November 5, 2009 I'm so ecstatic. This makes up for 2001 and 2004. Oh now you are estatic.. sure didn't sound like it back in April-May when ARod was down and you gave up on the season. And 2003 was when they were last in the WS. Since they didn't make it to the WS in 2004, there was no disappointment about the WS because they weren't in it.
Grand Concourse Posted November 5, 2009 Share #144 Posted November 5, 2009 Hideki Matsui earned the W.S. MVP! A job well done. Yes, I was surprised he got the MVP award for this one game than Mo for all the multi inning outs he pitched in the series. I would've thought Sabathia or Rivera would've gotten it or even Andy. Well if Matsui doesn't come back next year, this will be a wonderful send off for him. It doesn't get better than this to end his tenure with the Yankees. mass production Posted November 6, 2009 Author Share #145 Posted November 6, 2009 I would like to thank eveyone for posting a lot of comments on the thread that I created during the 2009 postseason. It was a great postseason for all the teams that made it far...especially for the Yankees!!! Next Year Quest for 28!!!
Grand Concourse Posted November 6, 2009 Share #146 Posted November 6, 2009 I think Girardi was actually entertaining the idea of changing his number to 28, which I think belongs to Shelly duncan right now [which should not be a big problem in terms of him giving it up]. Grand Concourse Posted November 11, 2009 Share #149 Posted November 11, 2009 Why he want to leave a team who just won a championship? Because the team has no room for him. Matsui is a DH only, and that is a problem because you have Damon and Posada that needs days off to rest and also ARod and Texiera who may need time to rest as well. Matsui will put a hamper on those plans. Those players are not young anymore and need rest. Unless Matsui comes back as a bench player [which I highly doubt], he'll want more playing time and the Yankees can't give that to him. That's why he has no choice but to look for another team. EE Broadway Local Posted November 13, 2009 Share #150 Posted November 13, 2009 Back in 1996, in Mr. Joe Torre's very first-ever season in the A.L., the Yankees defeated the defending World Series Champion Atlanta Braves 4 games to 2; Now today in 2009 in Mr. Joe Girardi's second season as an A.L. manager, the Yankees defeat the defending World Series Champion Phillies 4 games to 2. Then we started 0-2; now 0-1. In 1997, the Yankees went on to win the A.L Wild Card (We and the Orioles (!) traded places; it'll be interesting to watch where we finish in 2010.
