These are NOT my photos! Found them on NYCSUBWAY.ORG, these are from September 2009!

At first i heard in July that they were in bad shape, but from the photos its not as bad. Car inside a bit dust and a bit rusted, but it would be nice to SMS the R130[R110A] and fix it up a bit,, Maybe for the (S)...?

Cars are at Grand Concourse Yard Located at Bedford Park Blvd and Jerome Ave (4). Formally located at E239th St Yard, Bronx..

Images Reloaded by me to so you wouldnt need to go thru NYCSUBWAY.ORG + Id post here but it exceeds 1024x786 a bit and don't want these to get trashed!

They may look "ok" but do you know the mechanical condition of the cars? That is probibly why they do not run, I know that the R110A were taken out of service early due to a fire within on e of the truck. You can't see the damage but it is there. Face it, the chances of them running again are slim to none.

From what I've seen of burned up resistors, I can only imagine how bad a truck fire would be.

They are two very different trains. I doubt that the parts would be compatible, the R130 used older equipment then the R142s. Face it, these cars won't run in passenger service again. If they could, they would not be dragged around by a work train every time they need to be moved.

The parts are not compatible with anything else out there. R142 and R142A are not compatible with each other, much less a prototype. It's time to scrap them and move on as they'll never see road service again. As for those who think it should find a home in the Transit Museum I think the original SOAC was more deserving of a spot. Just my opinion though.

Wasn't the SOAC train property of the FRA?

Thanks. The R110A/B can't be scrapped for a while since the Feds bought them. As for the SOAC, that is at the Sea Shore Trolley Mueseum in Maine and is on display. It would be awesome if the TA took it back and restored it, but it did serve several other cities too.

Well i guess your right. Tho it should then be sent to NYCTM instead.. Also why was it then moved from 239 to concourse?

It had to make space for some type of work train.

Thats reasonable, 239th isnt big compared to concourse.. Someone did told me in July they were going to be sent to CIY for work service or school car, but so far nothing.. Man your a fast responder too lol
