MBCR's fate stuck between stations

T Board to vote today on contract for commuter rail

 

BOSTON. The MBTA Board of Directors today will consider whether or not to extend its contract with the company that runs the commuter rail during a time when performance on the train system has plummeted drastically.

 

The T’s five-year, $1.2 billion contract with the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad runs out at the end of June. The board today will consider whether to renew the existing contract, however it is unclear if they will consider a five-year renewal or a one-year extension.
