Construction of New DC Metro line Begins in Tysons Corner

A 23 mile extension of the DC Metro to Dulles Airport is being built. It will be completed in 2013. The extension is being built under the congested route 123. The extension is partially being funded by federal stimulus cash. Some sections of the tunnel are being built by the old fashioned cut and cover method. Other sections are being built with tunnel boring machines

I am very happy this line was fit into the budget, and with stimulus aid dollars not a pay or service cut.
