INDman Posted October 21, 2009 Share #52 Posted October 21, 2009 Great post. That made me laugh because it was SO TRUE. "Drama kids" will do anything for a story these days, even if it's as simple as, say, the rail spreading - BLAME THE EQUIPMENT DAMMIT! And make sure to show off superior knowledge of car data sheets by naming the car manufacturer in the process! Extra points for naming the propulsion system, saying why you like the way it sounds (and imitating the noise it makes by typing with your keyboard while you make the noise in your home)! /massive sarcasm (have to add this so none here will take the 2nd part of this post seriously...) But,it is the equipment.... the track equipment that caused this. I guess some people just can't get adjusted to the fact that the NTTs are here to stay and the SMEEs are going. When all else fails, just blame the "problem" even if it makes no scene at all.

Yes people, NTT's have MAGICAL POWERS that allow then to go WHEEEEEE off the track, okay?
DOB2RTO Posted October 21, 2009 Share #54 Posted October 21, 2009 There are timers in that area, but that only slows down the 1st 3-4 cars. After that, some wrap it around into the station, stressing those rails with the remaining cars. Saying that, it should be able to handle the stress, cause if not, then why not put timers in the station itself, all the way up to the car stop marker. B'way tracks do need updating, from 96 - 42nd street also. They did say the rail broke (clean break). If it way a train, well then CED will download the info from the black box, to see how much power and what speed the T/O went, after the timers cleared. Then again, it depends on what car derailed. 1-4 then it was the rail, after that (5-8, cause by 9-10 one is slowing down to stop in the station), they can say it was speed, and defective rail, but then again, why not just put timers throughout the station????? Regardless no one got hurt, cause it is still a station one goes into really slow anyways, cause of the timers. It's hard to get 20mph, without having to slow down to stop. Fulton St., S/B is also a tight one too, so they possibly will replace those rails too. Don't be surprised if they don't dig up both areas, and replace the entire section of track, and concrete soon.....
