Trainspotter Posted December 13, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 13, 2007 Bus GPS technology spotty at best GPS-fed electronic signs being tested at some bus stops often clock inaccurate commuter wait times, amNewYork has found. A reporter recently tracked the performance of signs at Lexington Avenue and 86th Street and at 14th Street and 1st Avenue. The reporter noted if the bus came when the signs said and if the signs said a bus was arriving. In more than half the time, the signs never reported the bus was arriving or were late in doing so. Most of the inaccuracies were only off by about a minute, and often the buses arrived early. Full story and video: - December 12, 2007

DOB2RTO Posted December 13, 2007 Share #4 Posted December 13, 2007 I was at 1st ave. and 42nd street and the sign said the next bus will come in 4 minutes when the bus was a block away. It was possibly early and scheduled to be there in 4 minutes. They still won't just let the buses run without a schedule.
