Received a letter today telling that there are no more positions available. I should report to 1 centere street if I want to remain on the list. Does anybody know what number they stopped at. I'm list #348. I need to know because I'm wondering if I should go Over The Road or stick with a local job. I really thought I was in. I feel like I wasted nearly 2 mos waiting for the MTA

Wow!!!! They sent you a letter saying that? Can you post a copy of that letter?. I can't believe they sent you something like that. I'm very sorry to hear that you waited for so long and it seems that it didn't pay off. Did you go through the pre- employment process and everything?

Here is the Letter Verbatim minus my Name.

Dear Mr. N.

In order to be considerd for the position of Bus operator you must report to the NYC Departmant of Citywide Administrative Services, 1 Centere Street, 21st floor, New York, NY and have your name restored as soon as possible. This is due to the fact that there are no more vacancies.

Please remember that all documents must be in the same name and the spelling must be exactly the same

Employment Operations.

Thats that. Im going down to dcas tommorow morn. I dont know weather to go OTR or find a job as a local and wait for MTA. I went for two urinalysis tests. I thought I was going to report for a physicals soon. But I guess not.

Man this is F'ed up. I've never even heard of this type of shit before. Did they even send you that letter talking about P/T B/O work or the MTA Bus B/O job?. Now that I think about it test # 8006 is NYCT B/O right, not Mabstoa?. You have the right idea putting your name back on the list with DCAS tomorrow. Your list # is 348 and they already contacted you about pre-employment already. So whenever they do have openings you won't be waiting that long. You should be in the first batch of people they call.

Here's the plan as of now. I'm

Going to an aviation fueling specialist who pays F*ll an hr. I'll stay with em for a year. Than I'm out doing OTR. I don't think I'm that far off on the list. If anybody knows where the powers that be are on the list please let me know.

Me either this Is a definite first I ever heard of no more openings. The list is open for four years. So they have all that time to call you. If they don't reach your number on the list then that's something else. When you go down to dcas seriously question them about this cause this is extremely odd.

I called the MTA HR on Friday from a number I had from pre -employment notice I received on 3-18-11. I took the drug test and was told if all is OK I will be called back for medical. My list number is in the low 400,s and have not heard anything since then. A lady told me that I need to go to DCAS to have my name restored to the list.? When I asked why she said because all the vacancies are filled which is what is stated on this letter, and I must go back to DCAS and have my number restored. I thought if you on the list to start and they don,t need you at this moment you just stay on the list till called and why have to be restored??. She did say they may need to call again in June and that's why you need to get your name restored. I also called DCAS and after the automated voice you can hold to speak to someone which I did and told them what the MTA told me and they said I have to speak to certifications which told me at this point 4-22-11 I am still on the list. However I should call back in a few weeks to check and if I have to be restored to come to the 21st floor on Centre Street to fill out a form. I will post the numbers for DCAS certifications if anyone needs them the number is followed by several extensions. 212-669-2431 / 2436 / 2450 /2459 . Looks like another bump in the road. Also my current employer still has not been contacted by the MTA.

Wow this is new info to me. I guess since you were actually called your name gets taken off the list. I know the automated number says that when I checked on the preferred list for S/A's. So you guys just get the correct info from DCAs and stay on top of this with them so you don't get screwed.

today i was curious about the letter 2 people said they received i contacted dcas ask talked with the certification unit.told them that some people took the drug test but did not get called.then got a letter saying they are off the list now,and have to reinstate there list number all over again.dcas response was that there was an issue with some people that were contacted by phone and did not respond to a date and time to continue the hiring process.and were removed.so some people called and they sent out letters to be reinstated only if they called.as of the current status for exam 8006 is active and on going in the hiring process people must report when called on time and the date if not thats why they were removed from the list a no show.and thats all the told me .

Thats Just not true. I'm not saying thats what they told you I'm just saying thats not true. I went down March 16 for my first drug test and April 14 for the second drug test. I recived the letter that I posted on the previous page April 25. I went down to 1 Centere Street this morn with said letter and had my name restored. As far as me not responding, they had no trouble calling me on april 12 to tell me to come in for the second drug test. What Number did you call Sealteam? I would love to have a chat with them.

As a matter of fact if anybody could provide me with a number to call @ 180 livinston that would be great. My phone memory only goes back to the 14th. :confused:Or else I'd redial from that. I don't mind getting the kibosh because there out of positions. I do mind getting hosed over if they claim I was contacted and was a no show. I've been waiting (more or less patiently.) for well over a month. I need to know if I should get a move on or get a local thing for the interim.

I called 180 Livinston today, Here is what happened. They stopped the list at # 461. I was #348. However the results of my second drug test did not come before the list was suspended. I will be restored to my original list position when they get the call for another class, supposedly in June or July.

I'm glad you got some clarification on this situation, and I really hope by June or July that you're working. You've got a good list number and you have been waiting patiently, you deserve a job.

If they say I was called and I did not response they may have called the wrong number because I never received a call. I am out a lot but have a answering machine so I am surprised that a least they could leave a message. Sometimes I don,t pick up because of the flood of telemarketing it just gets out of hand.

I will go down to 1 centre street tomorrow and get hopefully reinstated . Does anybody know if they leave a message because if they don,t I will have to pick up when home but again I can,t stay in the house all day. Also they have my cell # and also no calls.

What Number are you NYBRR? They told me they stopped the list at 461.

I'm worried that the same thing will happen again. How many people went for a 2nd test and wound up in limbo. I'm kind of cheesed that somebody 100 places below me is already training and i'm selling myself to a notorious bad actor.

Boxeraf my # is in the 420,s I only went in on March 18 for pre interview and drug test. At first I thought that the lady at the counter after I was signed out told me I will received a letter about medical but as members on this forum told me you will get called. I also did not get called back at least for a 2nd drug test , at first I thought maybe a problem with my previous employer which I still work for but was reduced from a full time worker to part time but my supervisor said no one has contacted him. I was wondering if you are called back for a 2nd drug test if you can update contact information about your last job because the supervisor # I gave now works nights. The plant manger of this company gave me his personal cell# and e-mail address to give to them because I told him about the supervisor now working nights and thought that might be the problem but it sounds like they may be saying we never responded to be called back in and you were called about 2nd drug test. You are right I was thinking the same thing it could happen again and was thinking after being reinstated and not hearing anything again in June and July it may pay to go to 180 Livingston in person. By the way while I was posting this message the phone rang 6 times all trying to sell something.

"Please, please all of you ladies and gentlemen waiting for an appointment

for any Civil Service position. Promotional or Open Competitive.

It has been mentioned in numerous threads that the key word is PATIENCE.

You took the tests, passed, now move on with your life.

Seek other employment or further your education in the meantime.

I've watched countless threads out here where someone posts some tidbit,

or asks about a test, and all of a sudden it's like sharks in a feeding frenzy.

I've noticed some people actually denigrating other posters chances of even being called, trying to discourage people and pouring water on another persons hopes and dreams.

Knocking another's list number or what have you. Nobody on these forums can

predict the future with any certainty.

There may be layoffs of people who were just called and appointed.

Maybe the economy picks up and more people retire, who knows ?

I say this as one who is older than those now waiting and one who has done the gamut,

from test, waiting, appointment, working, and now, retirement.

No matter how you feel today, apprehensive, excitement, fear, whatever,

remember IT"S NOT LIFE OR DEATH.

Slow down, take it easy and enjoy your life today 'cause nothing is really

promised anyway ( except death and taxes).

Just thought I'd throw that out here for those acting like children on Christmas Eve."
