FamousNYLover Posted October 31, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 31, 2009 Does any of you take taxi, when there are problems when buses are not so coming quickly. Starting, November 1st at 12:01am, all New York City taxis will have 50 cent surcharge, making base fare of $2.50 into $3. This is part of MTA Bailout Plan. What are your opinon on this? trainspot12 Posted October 31, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 31, 2009 I take cabs a lot of times. For me though, I really don't care about the surcharge just as long as they put it into the MTA like they said they were going to do.
Zman Posted October 31, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 31, 2009 I stopped taking yellow cabs when they last raised the fares. The cost went up like 40% overnight and chased me away almost immediately.
Urbanfortitude Posted November 1, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 1, 2009 I already had reasons not to take cabs as it was. This is just another one to the list.
Joe Posted November 1, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 1, 2009 Since my case against taxis is cost, this is just icing on the cake.
Grand Concourse Posted November 1, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 1, 2009 Haven't taken a taxi ride in years and don't plan on taking one. The only reason I'd have to would be if I'm coming home from the airport.

Why not take the bus and block up the aisle with 900 pieces of luggage? That is after all, the cool thing to do. </sarcasm>
Grand Concourse Posted November 1, 2009 Share #8 Posted November 1, 2009 Lol, yeah or take the bus over paying $5 for the Airtrain right?
Ken S. Posted November 1, 2009 Share #9 Posted November 1, 2009 I don't take the cabs in NYC. Most if not all of them are driven by people who would never be behind the wheel of them if the MTA was put in charge of hiring cabbies.

FamousNYLover Posted November 2, 2009 Author Share #12 Posted November 2, 2009 Additional reason why I never take the Taxi Cabs, it is getting more expensive than Taxis in China, including Shanghai. 3 bucks? What the hell!?! How much is taxi in China? By the way, little off-topic on my thread, does anyone heard the news, NYC Taxi Driver took family from Brooklyn, NY to their home in Arizona? Joe Posted November 3, 2009 Share #14 Posted November 3, 2009 Like 1Yen, 2Yen, 3Yen and 4Yen (Mostly the 1-2 Yen one have 1Yen surcharge), I could buy a Soda or 2 bottles of water with that base fare in China. Here is like 2 bottles of soda or 4 bottles of water as a base fare... Isn't a yen equal to like 1 penny USD?
