St Louis Car 09 Posted November 4, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 4, 2009 Hey gang! I just thought of this thread topic today, and im curious to know what is your favorite shop and yard.Basing your decisions on yard size, maintenace facility, rail car performance after repair and other things to throw in the mix.To start things off, my favorite shops are 207th street overhaul shop and coney island overhaul shop due to their work on some of our rail cars during GOH (especially R44`s) and corona maintenance shop because of its close proximity to flushing meadows and good running R62A`s, and some fond memories. So type your choices have fun! LRG Posted November 4, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 4, 2009 207th Street is my favorite, although it's where all the cars go and die unfortunately. On occasion, you'll see cars of all types stored there (ones that aren't getting scrapped).

bveguy Posted November 4, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 4, 2009 207th Street It is the only shop/yard I've been to and actually got to go inside, aside from Coney Island. Coney Island was okay, although I still didn't think the tour was that great.

Pelham Bay Dave Posted November 9, 2009 Share #11 Posted November 9, 2009 I like Westchester YD , 207 St Yard and Coney Island YD ( is just good to look at. I think E 180 Barn does the best job performance wise but most of the fleet is layed up at night. 207 Yard along with Pitkin does a great job keeping the R32/44/46 going. The Yard is dislike the Most 174 Storage Yard its dark and creepy and if something happens to you no one would ever know. Its a dungon!

bveguy Posted November 9, 2009 Share #14 Posted November 9, 2009 When do they give tours through the facility? Keep your eyes and ears open on the Transit Museum calendar. It usually happens within the spring/summer. You have to pay like $30 for it though.
INDman Posted November 9, 2009 Share #15 Posted November 9, 2009 I like 239th Street yard alot, the two levels or storage tracks is really something to see. I'm not that big of a fan of CIY, I like 207th street a bit more. I know that 207 does some quaility work.
