St Louis Car 09 22 Posted November 7, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 7, 2009 Looks wierd, but It could work.In fact awhile back they actuall tested them on the(7),but something happened to where they are no longer using them on the line.

St Louis Car 09 22 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #9 Posted November 8, 2009 This is what an 11 car train would look like on the (7)/<7>. It would be interesting sight to see that in revenue service. Image not by me. Isn`t that the same R142 that was first tested on the ?

Queens Surface 434 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #11 Posted November 8, 2009 How many times we went through this mess , that picture is not a 11-car R142. Its only 10-cars.

Queens Surface 434 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #13 Posted November 8, 2009 Yeah, i forgot to add 10-Car R142 + 1 R62A.
Grand Concourse 2,690 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #14 Posted November 8, 2009 There was another picture of an 11-car train, someone posted the numbers of it. I think it was a '4-2-5' set. Meaning 4 cars came from one set and 2 from another.
NYtransit 457 Posted November 8, 2009 Author Share #15 Posted November 8, 2009 guys dont go off topic please.we all about the R142 that was on corona yard.theres no need to re-post it.
Forest Glen 4 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #16 Posted November 8, 2009 I'd rather the keep its R62a's. Not every line needs NTTs. The A Division will be so monotonous if that were to occur.
Grand Concourse 2,690 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #17 Posted November 8, 2009 It's not like the R62As are being replaced, it's just a fleet swap so they can run CBTC on the 7 line.

Grand Concourse 2,690 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #19 Posted November 8, 2009 Corona Yard is isolated from the main line IRTs, it has to be a uniformed fleet.

Grand Concourse 2,690 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #21 Posted November 8, 2009 Um, common sense? The IRT trains have to go thru B division* to just reach Corona yard. If you have a mixed fleet you can't put an R62A set with an R142A set in the same train. That limits flexibility if there's some sort of a shortage. Plus even the 1,3,2/5,6 lines are all individually one fleet type and they are all connected in some way or another. So why would an isolated line have a use for a mixed fleet? *from Jerome yard to Corona: via D to 47-50th/6th Av, reverse to 63rd Lex, reverse back to 57th-7th, reverse via N to QBP ans switch to the Flushing line *from 207th yard to Corona: via A to 47-50th/6th Av, reverse to 63rd Lex, reverse back to 57th-7th, reverse via N to QBP ans switch to the Flushing line

SubwayGuy 2,321 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #23 Posted November 8, 2009 It doesn't *have* to be a uniform fleet but each trainset must be uniform because none of the IRT cars are compatible at present. Each can run suitably for passenger service only with its kind. R62's can run with other R62's. R62A's can run with other R62A's. R142's with other R142's, and R142A's with other R142A's. However remember all New Techs running in service are 5 car sets *at present* and the runs 11 car trains. So nothing would happen without some sort of modification that you would all hear about plenty of time in advance to plan for this, so basically don't worry about it and "let it do what it do"
INDman 414 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #24 Posted November 8, 2009 "let it do what it do" Oh come on, what do you want all the foamers to do if they can't predict car movements?
SubwayGuy 2,321 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #25 Posted November 8, 2009 Oh come on, what do you want all the foamers to do if they can't predict car movements? I want to send them on the fool's errand I came up with a month or so ago...find a picture of a subway car with "cherry red" grids under it. Go and keep looking ye railiens As I said at the time, THAT would be one heck of a photo, and it would take them more time to find then chasing car moves .
