Harry Posted November 8, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 8, 2009 That's one expensive weenie. The original Nathan's Famous in Coney Island is charging $3.15 for a plain hot dog - a price many longtime customers are finding hard to swallow. "Wow, that's steep," said electrician Frank Lehman, 32, as he stopped by the popular Brooklyn eatery for lunch. "I had no idea they cost that much now. I could buy a whole package of hot dogs for that much." Nathan's officials said rising costs for everything from beef to buns forced the landmark store at 1310 Surf Ave. to plump their prices. mark1447 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 8, 2009 No thanks! I will buy at a local Hot dog stand for 1.50/2.00.. Oh no wait! Spend $3.15 or less on buying my own 6-8 Pack of franks at a Super Market! Or not spend it on any frank and save for something else!
Urbanfortitude Posted November 8, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 8, 2009 I am so glad i saved all those 5 cent hot dog coupons for this place. They're still good too

Dan05979 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #8 Posted November 8, 2009 Another question here should be, how do you like your dogs, dirty water or grilled? grilled is #1 especially when its a lil burnt, dirty water dogs make me sick.
INDman Posted November 8, 2009 Share #9 Posted November 8, 2009 Hell yea I'll still pay $3.15 for a Nathan's hot dog. Like kinghtrider said, it's not every day you get one. They beat all the other places like Grays Pupya and Pupya Dog, and dirty water dogs don't even come close.

St Louis Car 09 Posted November 8, 2009 Share #13 Posted November 8, 2009 I guess it`s steep if you are a frequent customer, but for first timers who always heard about the dogs would not mind, especially if the taste is worth the $3.15.BTW is that including tax? dmouse Posted November 9, 2009 Share #15 Posted November 9, 2009 Wow. That's nothing compared to places in amusement parks, or baseball stadiums. Well at least I get my Nathans. Come to think about it, I haven't had a nathans weenie in a long time...
Locomotion69 Posted November 9, 2009 Share #16 Posted November 9, 2009 They are $4.75 at the seats in Citi Field and $5.00 at Yankee Stadium. When on sale at the supermarket you can buy a 16oz package of 8 Nathans hot dogs for $2.49.
metsfan Posted November 9, 2009 Share #17 Posted November 9, 2009 I also enjoy the fries and other offerings when i visit the coney island caviar capitol. Is the price for a classic, or regular? If it's for classic i understand, because they make them specifically for Nathan's, no one else uses them. - A
BrooklynBus Posted November 9, 2009 Share #18 Posted November 9, 2009 Rising prices as a reason for the increase is a lot of bull. They are just doing it to increase their profits because the location is famous. If rising prices were the real reason, the 86th Street Nathan's location wouldn't be giving out coupons for 99 cents. EE Broadway Local Posted November 11, 2009 Share #19 Posted November 11, 2009 At my local Marketside grocery store, I see a package of eight Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs for $3.95. They're good grilled and with a little Gulden's. At my local K Mart cafe, there are two Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs for $2.00. But, You Know, I guess $3.15 is like everything else: $11.00 haircuts; 75 cents Daily and $2.00 Sunday newspapers; 42 cents stamps; $3.99 Bag of potato chips; $95.00 per night hotel rooms. DOB2RTO Posted November 14, 2009 Share #25 Posted November 14, 2009 (H)ow ironic (M)y wife is cooking my (N)athan's as I speak;) <R> She's cooking your Nathan. Doesn't that burn n hurt???????? No hot dog is worth that much... John Bobbit would beg to differ. I would think it cost him an arm n a leg to get his back.......... Now to be serious. I only been to that Nathan's a couple of times in my life, and they are overrated to me. Grays is good, but I prefer the ones at a little shop here in Downtown Yonkers. Sadly the original owners don't own it anymore, as they retired. They were Portuguese (is one a Portugoose???) The new owners still make those delicious franks n chilli though.......
