NYCTrainFan95 Posted November 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 12, 2009 Vans will replace trains between Oyster Bay and Locust Valley on the MTA Long Island Rail Road’s Oyster Bay Branch the weekends of November 14-15 and November 21-22 as the Shore Road railroad bridge in Mill Neck is replaced. In addition, West Shore Road will be closed to highway traffic and detoured as the bridge work progresses this weekend, November 14-15. More... Forest Glen Posted November 12, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 12, 2009 They're too cheap to provide real shuttle buses?
Grand Concourse Posted November 12, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 12, 2009 But they run only 2-car trains for Oyster Bay don't they? Why waste a 40ft bus when a few 'vans' will do.
Amtrak7 Posted November 12, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 12, 2009 OB uses 4-car trains, but it's only one station's worth of passengers, so a van is okay. Anybody have a picture of these "vans" (or ever ridden one)?
Grand Concourse Posted November 12, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 12, 2009 I don't have one on me at the moment, but they aren't like those dollar vans. They are like 'mini buses'. That have more of a truck like front.

Grand Concourse Posted November 12, 2009 Share #7 Posted November 12, 2009 Yeah, those kinds. One of them was at one of the bus fests a few years ago.
