Bracamonte Posted November 15, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 15, 2009 Its official, 7181 is no longer on the roster list. It has be sent to Eastchester for scrap, thus marking the retirement of the Triboro RTS fleet. So ends an era. At least we still have the ex-Triboro Orion V CNG's. Feel free to post pictures of the 7100's RTS. Also, the 9700's RTS's are appearing less frequently than before.

Grand Concourse Posted November 15, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 15, 2009 I just hope 5926 is saved. If not a TM bus, at least some sort of functioning role. That bus should not be scrapped. imo.
Q25toJamaica Posted November 15, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 15, 2009 There are few 9700s left, one 5990 series, one Green Lines (5926) and only a handful of Jamaica 1100s. My advice would be to catch 5926, 5995 and 1190. Those are the best buses still running IMO Just listen to 5926
Grand Concourse Posted November 15, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 15, 2009 1190 is another good bus, ex-JBI should be proud that bus lasted this long.

SoSpectacular Posted November 21, 2009 Share #15 Posted November 21, 2009 Spotted 5926 at the 165th Street Terminal earlier, looked so out of place over there with the hybrids/NGs and Orion Vs there.
Grand Concourse Posted November 21, 2009 Share #16 Posted November 21, 2009 Shame it'll be gone soon I am just hoping [maybe praying] that they don't scrap 5926 and 1190.
Novabus 5000 Posted November 21, 2009 Share #17 Posted November 21, 2009 if they pull 5926, then we ARE protesting in front of the mta headquarters for its return.
R32 3348 Posted November 21, 2009 Share #18 Posted November 21, 2009 Don't they already have 5904 preserved as a Queens Surface bus? Seeing as that came from the same order/numbering of buses as 5926I don't see what the big deal is then if 5926 is scrapped. Unless you want a former Green lines bus saved... Grand Concourse Posted November 21, 2009 Share #19 Posted November 21, 2009 Thing is, that it survived the 'terrible' Green Lines 'treatment' and still runs great. If anything they could at least mothball it and keep it as part of a 'reserve fleet'. Why scrap a perfectly good running bus? There are other TMC buses out there that should be scrapped before 5926 imo. If the ex-BL buses weren't going to MTA Bus, 5926 would still be running without need to be retired.
