Y2Julio Posted November 15, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 15, 2009 It came up today in discussion, and I didn't know the answer, so I figured you guys might know. The South Brooklyn ROW used to be owned by LIRR, I was told. Who is the owner of it now?The South Brooklyn Railroad is a subsidiary of MTA New York City Transit and as such is it's only "client". The Cross Harbor Railroad is now the New York New Jersey Rail and is owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. If you're talking about the New York and Atlantic Railway that runs on the old LIRR Bay Ridge branch, the ROW is owned by the LIRR but the NY&A has exclusive rights with it to use LIRR ROW for freight operations.
