jacsnyy Posted November 29, 2009 #1 Posted November 29, 2009 Under which scenerios do routes get split between depots? Such as the Q6, Q8, Q9, Q11 between JFK ad Far Rockaway (I don't think I've ever seen them running as Far Rockaway), The M98 and M30 between Amsterdamn and Quill (I've never seen the M98 running from Quill)

RokuSix Posted November 30, 2009 #4 Posted November 30, 2009 Does it depend on the length of the route? I'm not sure...if someone could back this claim up, that'd be helpful. :]
nel070 Posted November 30, 2009 #5 Posted November 30, 2009 i think on school days the q44 is being split because im seeing a lot of nova buses on the q44 between 2pm and 3pm and casey stengal doesnt have nova buses so i assume they are coming from merrick depot
Far Rock Depot Posted November 30, 2009 #6 Posted November 30, 2009 Under which scenerios do routes get split between depots?Such as the Q6, Q8, Q9, Q11 between JFK ad Far Rockaway (I don't think I've ever seen them running as Far Rockaway), The M98 and M30 between Amsterdamn and Quill (I've never seen the M98 running from Quill) The Q6, Q8, Q9 and Q11 do split between FR and JFK. The headways are almost equal. I dont understand the Q6 though as it passes JFK depot. I was on a number of Q11s from FR. Most overnight though. and given how these routes were operated under Green Lines, and the same with the 2 depot, im not surprised. and nel070, the "merrick depot" youre reffering to is the Jamaica Depot.
SoSpectacular Posted November 30, 2009 #7 Posted November 30, 2009 The Q17 is helped out by Casey Stengel in the afternoons because I see a number of Orion Vs out there. The Q27 is also helped out by Stengel on afternoons because of the students at Cardozo High School. The Q44 is usually helped out by the Jamaica Depot on certain days as well.

Cait Sith Posted November 30, 2009 #10 Posted November 30, 2009 what you mean?!?!?!? theres is no Midday M98 service! I meant around 3pm! Ugh I'm losing it these days!
Grand Concourse Posted December 1, 2009 #11 Posted December 1, 2009 I do hope one of these days they split the Q53 between LGA and FR.
petabread Posted December 1, 2009 #12 Posted December 1, 2009 Nah it won't happen anytime soon. The unions involved wouldn't allow it, it would be too complicated for their heads to figure it out.
Fresh Pond Posted December 1, 2009 #14 Posted December 1, 2009 They split lines for many reasons and here are a few... -very short headways that require many buses that 1 depot can't handle by itself -school trips -proximity to depots where a few trips can come from it Here are some lines that are split (that I know of) -Q44 (Stengel & Jamaica for school trippers) -Q6, 7, 8, 9, 11, & 41 (JFK & Far Rockaway) -B9 (Flatbush & Gleason for school trips) -Q32 (full-time split with Quill & Stengel) The B20 used to be split between East New York & Fresh Pond but they stopped doing that

BNQtrain3912 Posted December 3, 2009 #16 Posted December 3, 2009 did flatbush use ngs on the b9? did they go all the way to bay ridge?
BusOperator3319 Posted March 8, 2010 #17 Posted March 8, 2010 Almost made a duplicate thread It is my Opinion that most or all Routes should be split between Depots to minimize mileage and wear and tear on equipment the other night I seen an Q58 heading back to the house NIS from Far Rockaway to Elmhurst without a doubt that would have to be one of the longest rides back to the Depot now here is a scenario that would be a win win whould it have been Split Between Far Rockaway and LaGuardia Operators From LaGuardia last Trip would have been in Jackson Heights and back to the House vice versa Operators from Far Rockaway last trip would be in Far Rockaway and back to the House it makes a lot of sense
Noflexdont Posted March 13, 2010 #18 Posted March 13, 2010 with next pick Q58 and B47 will be shared during early am hours
Fresh Pond Posted March 13, 2010 #20 Posted March 13, 2010 Before SBS, the Bx12 came out of KB They still do over the summer. Most of the local buses that go to Orchard Beach come from KB
Kingsbridge Bus Posted March 13, 2010 #21 Posted March 13, 2010 They still do over the summer. Most of the local buses that go to Orchard Beach come from KB Yippie yay. I go to the beach
BusOperator3319 Posted March 13, 2010 #22 Posted March 13, 2010 with next pick Q58 and B47 will be shared during early am hoursYou know what I just looked over what I wrote and meant to say Q53 Limited
Rick44 Posted March 13, 2010 #23 Posted March 13, 2010 Isn't the B39 split between Grand and Flatbush? Not that I know why it's split, but that's to add on to the list.
Eric B Posted March 13, 2010 #24 Posted March 13, 2010 What you're thinking of is the interlining with the 44 (and think also the 46) at night.
