Grand Concourse Posted December 7, 2009 Share #26 Posted December 7, 2009 Exactly, I would choose the last idea. Keep it apart from the other lines and have a 'strait line' into Court St than to try to build around it.

2Line1291 Posted December 7, 2009 Author Share #28 Posted December 7, 2009 Isnt City Hall loop built to IRT standards and IND/BMT cars isnt gonna fit unless you plan to renovate the loop to BMT/IND standards.
NX Express Posted December 7, 2009 Share #29 Posted December 7, 2009 1) not very costly, but makes delays.2) very costly 3) a bit less costly, and better. In my fantasy map at http://nyctransitforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14461, the museum is moved to City Hall , it has the platforms cut, and <6>s turn at a new loop from the nearby relay tracks. Did I not just say that?

NX Express Posted December 7, 2009 Share #31 Posted December 7, 2009 As I've often said, it's better to make an Airtrain from Astoria.
El person Posted December 8, 2009 Share #32 Posted December 8, 2009 As an added bonus, City Hall becomes Transit Museum!!!!!!!! If the museum does gets moved, City Hall won't be a good station for it for several reasons. 1)B division cars won't fit, and if the platforms are cut, they still wouldn't be able to fit through the tunnels. 2)There isn't that much space; The platform has only one track and is half the length of a normal platform. 3)The police will be to scared of a terrorist attack happening to let a museum be put under City Hall. If they ever have to move the museum, the best option would be to make a new building or fake station to put it in.

Grand Concourse Posted December 11, 2009 Share #34 Posted December 11, 2009 I don't understand the need for the Broadway lines to go to the Bronx when the B/D set up is fine. Overall it's pretty good.

Grand Concourse Posted December 19, 2009 Share #36 Posted December 19, 2009 I take it the Flatbush bound track has been 'sunked down' enough to allow the 3 to pass above it normally? Because there's no way you can have the 3 run below the FB tunnel and then back over the Manahattan bound tunnel.
2Line1291 Posted December 19, 2009 Author Share #37 Posted December 19, 2009 The New Lots bound track passes under the Flatbush bound track
Grand Concourse Posted December 19, 2009 Share #38 Posted December 19, 2009 That'll be a steep climb up over the Manhattan bound track and to get to the station. Not sure if that's such a good idea.
2Line1291 Posted December 20, 2009 Author Share #39 Posted December 20, 2009 You reading the map wrong. The Manhattan bound track descends after President St station, that why the gets thinner as it gets closer to Rogers Junction.
NX Express Posted December 20, 2009 Share #40 Posted December 20, 2009 I think this is a better and more clearly-drawn alternative.
2Line1291 Posted December 20, 2009 Author Share #41 Posted December 20, 2009 You have your own version of Rogers Junction.....wow....NICE!!!!. Mines is the way it is cause I wanna create a diagram where it doesnt require bulldozing the whole junction and redoing it which is gonna severly impact service. CenSin Posted December 20, 2009 Share #42 Posted December 20, 2009 I never liked how all the lines were one color even when two different services utilized the tracks.
NX Express Posted December 21, 2009 Share #43 Posted December 21, 2009 This makes sense in all cases, except where there are like three trains with different colors all using the same track, especially when there is a junction.
Grand Concourse Posted December 21, 2009 Share #44 Posted December 21, 2009 Amazing job there CenSin! It would be so nice if that junction could be simplified like that...

NX Express Posted January 5, 2010 Share #46 Posted January 5, 2010 The AIRTRAIN would have more use from Roosevelt Av to LGA than from JFK to LGA.
Grand Concourse Posted January 5, 2010 Share #47 Posted January 5, 2010 I don't think you should have the 4 cut back to 149th. There's really no need for the Dyre line to have service to Manhattan late at night as the shuttle would be fine to 180th to take the 2 further down. Otherwise map looks pretty good. Also use the 'eye drop' function on MS paint and right click on the 'land' and then use the paint bucket [right click again] to fill in the white boxes when you moved the terminals. CenSin Posted January 6, 2010 Share #48 Posted January 6, 2010 Most of the extensions seem sensible, but you might run into trouble with the . I still wish you guys would label your stations rather than insert an arbitrary number of points.
Q43 Floral Park Posted January 6, 2010 Share #49 Posted January 6, 2010 I'm back again with maps 168th St, Manhattan to Lefferts Blvd (via. What street is the running on and what stops is it making? The will give you trouble unless you either rebuild BPB or make it be rush hours only to/from Burnside with service because that the only express stop on the line. Lastly why the swapping of the and ? If the is running the whole route all night (which is overkill) will the be express in manhattan... Okay that was a lot but I'm just curious
Grand Concourse Posted January 6, 2010 Share #50 Posted January 6, 2010 He said 149th, meaning the 4 would probably terminate there and riders would have to walk thru the corridor to get to the 5 if they want to continue further south. I too do not agree with making the 5 a 24/7 line as riders already have the 2 and Dyre is fine as just a shuttle. Plus unless Rogers Junction is 'corrected' the 4 would be hampered due to having to merge with the 2 to go to Flatbush and the extra stops vs. the 1 express stop to Utica.
