Bx6 transfers to the Concourse Bus?

Why doesn't West Farms Bx6 stop at 161st Street/Concourse and connect with the Bx1/2? It always go under the tunnel instead of going to Concourse. Idk if the Bx13 stops there when its extended sometimes along 161st Street toward third avenue.

I'm wondering if its the only bus that skips Concourse while others don't..

The Bx6 stops one block off the Grand Concourse as well as the Bx13 during the part time service to E. 161st Street and 3rd Avenue!

Well i don't get why it has to be one block transfer instead of crossing Concourse.. Is this the only route that skips It? I know Tremont/Burnside buses doesn't use tunnel Nor KingsBridge.

If you noticed that block with the Bx6 stops @ and Grand Concourse is in walking distance. Plus the Bx1 (Mott Haven-136th Street bound and Riverdale-231st Street bound) stops @ the corner of E. 161st Street and Grand Concourse across from each other. The Bx36 and Bx40/42 do stop @ Grand Concourse to transfer for the Bx1, Bx1 LTD, Bx2 and Bx2 LTD!

I remember when I was little that during Rush Hours some of the Bx9s would use the tunnel and pick up from that (D) exit

I think Mark was asking why the Bx6 use the tunnel instead of the other routes which cross the Concourse (Bx35, Bx36, Bx9, etc.) I'm wondering the same thing too.

There we go! I've been wondering this for years! I don't get it.. Idk if it involves that small parking lot in the middle of 161st/concourse..Or the spacing in the street. I mean come on Bx9/Bx25/Bx26/Bx28/Bx35/Bx36Bx40/Bx42 doesn't use tunnel. Not sure abot the Bx11 as much, haven't been on that route for a while..

I don't think there is an entry in the Tunnel of Kingsbridge Rd. Unless there is?

I think b/c the next few stops for the Bx6 uses the center lane of E. 161st Street after the bus stop on E. 161st Street and Concourse Village West/Sherdian Avenue!

The Bx11 does not use the tunnel. I wonder why the Bx6 uses the inner roadway of East 161 Street. That route sure has some weird routing between Concourse Village West and the Macombs Dam Bridge.

I believe thats one the way it can use Macombs Dam Bridge to get to Manhattan by using the center lane of E. 161st Street!

Well i was on the Bx6 today and notice that after leaving River Avenue in the inner 161st it crossed to the outer 161st Street to head to the Bridge. While Bx13 crosses to head to Tunnel heading to GWB..

Im wounder if this has something to do with KBs Bx13 since it terminates on the outer side of 161st..

It would make sense to have the Bx13 do its pick up in the inner 161st st on River avenue then the outer, near Yankees Std. Tho idk if that can happen since drivers may not be able to turn into inner 161st

Theres only 1 stop after Bronx Court building which is 161st St river avenue inner across McD, next stop is 155th Edgecomb/St Nich Terr.

It does. The inner can cross but Idk if traffic from the outer thats crossing to inner would lead to congestion..

Use street view and you will see it.

I still would like to know what the bx6 goes via Tunnel. Idk if it has something to do with the Bx13
