No spare change for the red kettles? No problem - Salvation Army now accepts credit

This season, the Salvation Army will take more than your spare change - like a swipe of your MasterCard.

 

The charity's bright red kettles are getting a modern makeover in the form of a credit-card machines that it hopes will make it easier to donate.

 

The new "plastic" kettles will start appearing around the city in the next two weeks.

 

They're already being used in 120 other cities, said Salvation Army spokeswoman Jennifer Byrd.

 

"The Salvation Army is always looking at new ways to reach our donors," Byrd said Wednesday

I'll keep giving in spare change to those kettles. Credit/debit card money can go elsewhere. Good report.
