Is CBTC being installed on the (7) line?

apprently for 1 year theres been major G.O's on the (7) line. such as,the (7) line being cut from 61st to main street,the elminating manhattan (7) local during PM rush. and chnaging up the 3rd rails.does this mean that all this work if for installition of CBTC on the flushing line? or its getting ready to instill CBTC on the flushing line?

The (7) is the next line to get CBTC. Right now though, the are doing alot of track work on the line. I do not think it is CBTC related work as track does not need to be replaced for the system.

It does help to have nicely set up rails and such when they start going over the line to put up the necessary equipment for CBTC.

 

New rails are nice but not needed. The CBTC transponders are placed on ties and other equipment is places in side rooms or cabinets along the RoW.

Do you happen know if it's planned to just run <7> by CBTC to start with instead of (7) and <7> starting CBTC at the same time? It seems to me it might allow for quicker start up once the cars that have CBTC support for the A division start coming in.

you kidding? look how long it took them to get the (L) CBTC ready...

and with all the budget constraints and stuff... even if all the signalling equipment was in place, the R188's would still be a few years off...

 

ya but thats because there was a bug.and they said that they figured out the bug.so it should be quizker started up cbtc on the the (7) line
