INDman Posted December 12, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 12, 2009 The is the next line to get CBTC. Right now though, the are doing alot of track work on the line. I do not think it is CBTC related work as track does not need to be replaced for the system.
fishmech Posted December 12, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 12, 2009 It does help to have nicely set up rails and such when they start going over the line to put up the necessary equipment for CBTC.
INDman Posted December 13, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 13, 2009 It does help to have nicely set up rails and such when they start going over the line to put up the necessary equipment for CBTC. New rails are nice but not needed. The CBTC transponders are placed on ties and other equipment is places in side rooms or cabinets along the RoW. cdi919 Posted December 13, 2009 Share #5 Posted December 13, 2009 the new cbtc signals are already being installed in corona yard. the main line should be started in the new year.
fishmech Posted December 13, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 13, 2009 Do you happen know if it's planned to just run by CBTC to start with instead of and starting CBTC at the same time? It seems to me it might allow for quicker start up once the cars that have CBTC support for the A division start coming in.
NYtransit Posted December 13, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted December 13, 2009 the new cbtc signals are already being installed in corona yard. the main line should be started in the new year. so by 2011 the flushing line should at least be nearly cbtc ready? Fan Railer Posted December 13, 2009 Share #8 Posted December 13, 2009 you kidding? look how long it took them to get the CBTC ready... and with all the budget constraints and stuff... even if all the signalling equipment was in place, the R188's would still be a few years off...
