RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for the development of technical specifications for new car design for the procurement of the next generation of railcars to replace the NYCT subdivision B subway fleet. This position is also accountable for directing the ongoing design, review and analysis, inspection, testing and reliability tracking to maximize safety, reliability, maintainability and performance efficiency. Establishes and implements recommendations to achieve energy conservation goals and design of new technology interfaces with the R179 subway cars.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Engineering or a related discipline and twelve 12 years experience including a minimum of seven 7 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity. A NYS Professional Engineer License is required for this position.

DESIRED SKILLS:

-Ten (10) years of experience in the rapid transit industry. -Knowledge of new and cutting edge technology in heavy railcar engineering; transit vehicle systems and their interface and interaction. -Thorough understanding of design, testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis and corrective action relative to railcars and control systems. -Experience with NYCT car equipment.

hmmm, very interesting, so what happened to the R188? they still working on that too, or is it in the backburner due to budget? I know the 10-14 capital plan states the interest in procuring 146 cars (new cabs, not including R142/A conversions), but i don't see how that works, unless there are plans to procure more cab cars...

they should just make 40 singles and stick em on the end of the 10 car sets for the R142 (7) trains

Wouldn't you like to be that guy? Sadly, engineering is really hard...

 

take it from a guy who went to the Polytechnic Institute of NYU and dropped out a year later to become a postal worker :P

 

I majored in Engineering in CUNY, went for 3 semesters, now im a body piercer. but i can design my a$$ off! and to scale!
