Air France A380 Breaks Down in New York, Stranding 580 Passengers

Hundreds of Air France passengers were stranded Monday night after Flight 007, the airline’s evening A380 service from JFK to Paris DeGaulle, was canceled due to undisclosed technical problems, according to French media reports.

French radio network RTL says the flight’s 580 passengers were all transported to a single hotel, which, not surprisingly, was unable to accommodate all of them. The remaining passengers were bussed back to the airport for an uncomfy night in Terminal 1.

While technical problems with a brand new aircraft are understandable, it seems Air France has some work to do in the logistics planning department when it comes to the uniquely huge numbers of passengers that can be inconvenienced when the superjumbo breaks down.

Yeah, Air France really screwed this one up with trying to accommodate passengers for a place to stay overnight. I'm sure the people who got stuck at the terminal are getting money or a free trip and make sure the flight they take is the 777....

Wow! The day after the B787 is launched is the day that the first A380 breaks down. Airbus must have really overdone the A380. The bottom line is that Airbus will never surpass Boeing; the A350 would just be another failure!

Interest for the A350 has gone down because airlines have been dropping interest in that model and are now looking to order 787s.
