Cait Sith Posted December 23, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 23, 2009 Ugh, the signs were going on and off. This would have looked hot with the sign on. The invasion has begun, the 8600s are in deep danger now! Argh, missed this by a few seconds
Grand Concourse Posted December 23, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 23, 2009 Very nice pics and great catch of 3910. I think I saw 3911 on Friday at Flatbush and Troy Avs.
Bill from Maspeth Posted December 23, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 23, 2009 Not sure but somewhere I thought I heard if the operator sets the signs from the farebox, at the end of the cycle the digital sign goes momentarily dark. They are told not to set them this way but.........

nycbusfan Posted December 23, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 23, 2009 Great shots, They shouldn't retire those 8600's. There are plenty of buses around that are in worse shape than those.

Personally I think most those 8600's (the ones that are good, which means most) from MJQ and MTA bus should be sent to Casey Stengel (heaven forbid RTS' return there) to replace the old Orions V's (400's to 600's). Nobody can convince me that most of those worn out Orions V's are in better shape than the 8600's.

RTS CNG Command Posted December 23, 2009 Share #10 Posted December 23, 2009 The rest of the 8600s may be retiring this soon already? And I thought most of them were going to stick around for the nexxt few years. There goes my childhood. Anyway, nice shots, Shane!

It would be great if they were sent over to whatever depots to retire the remaining 8000-8300s and O5s.

PATCOman Posted December 23, 2009 Share #17 Posted December 23, 2009 Slammin pics! Slightly off topic: NJTs side signs (not the route # though) go blank after a cycle, and I think SEPTAs does too.
