Vada Vasquez, Bronx teen shot in head, speaks about life after brush with death

Vada Vasquez doesn't want any gifts for Christmas this year - being alive and home with her family is the greatest present of all.

 

In her first interview since a stray bullet slammed into her head last month, the 15-year-old Bronx girl said she's elated to be able to spend the holidays with her family.

 

"I never thought that I'd actually come back home," Vada said Tuesday in the living room of her Soundview home, her words emerging slowly and slightly slurred, but her mood exuberant and joyful.

 

"I didn't think I was ever going to see my mom and my sisters again. I'm so happy I'm finally better. I feel blessed."
