NX Express Posted December 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 24, 2009 MTA New York City Transit Service Alert Posted on:12/24/2009 10:59:03 AM Due to switch problems in the Concourse Yard, Coney Island-bound ( trains are running on the local track between the Bedford Park Boulevard Station and the 145th Street Station. Please expect delays on the ( and trains at this time. 1. Why are switch problems in the yard affecting service? 2. Why don't (D)s switch to the express at 170th, for example? 3. This has been going on for four hours already. What's up? EDIT: To not make a new thread: Due to a train with mechanical problems at the Houston Street Station, Brooklyn College-bound and New Lots-bound trains are running on the local track between the 72nd Street Station and the Chambers Street Station. What happened to the switch at 42-Times Square???

RTOMan Posted December 24, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 24, 2009 Didn't something like this happen on the a few years ago when a train died on the ladder in Corona Yard? Or was it when a R62A made an "add" on the mainline to another R62A?
NX Express Posted December 24, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted December 24, 2009 Or was it when a R62A made an "add" on the mainline to another R62A? You mean crash or what? Also, what's up with the 2nd alert about the scraping the wall in uptown? Does the switch @ 42 not work or something?
INDman Posted December 24, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 24, 2009 Or was it when a R62A made an "add" on the mainline to another R62A? After hearing some stories from some of the people I know who have been down there for a while now, nothing is too surprising. You ever hear the story of the T/O who gave a play-by-play has a "yellow piece of MoW equipment" rolled down hill and collided with his train and derailed? R44 5278 Posted December 24, 2009 Share #11 Posted December 24, 2009 Hold on, I thought that the B always ran local in that section. Did you mean switching into the center track like some D trains during the Rushes?
NX Express Posted December 24, 2009 Author Share #12 Posted December 24, 2009 Yes. (D)s usually run express, but due to switch problems, they are not.

NX Express Posted December 24, 2009 Author Share #14 Posted December 24, 2009 But the computer still has to change its regular routine to reroute (3)s @ 96 and at Chambers. So tell it to reroute @ 42 instead. Or maybe it can't?:confused:

NX Express Posted December 24, 2009 Author Share #16 Posted December 24, 2009 Think of it this way.. When your computer "crashes" what happens?? I will leave it @ that.... Well, doesn't it have an equal chance of "crashing" whether the change is @ 96 or 42?

NX Express Posted December 24, 2009 Author Share #22 Posted December 24, 2009 But the train broke at Houston. How would that do anything to the signals at 42?
RTOMan Posted December 24, 2009 Share #23 Posted December 24, 2009 But the train broke at Houston. How would that do anything to the signals at 42? ATS acting up and NOT giving trains the line ups to switch tracks... Understand Now???
NX Express Posted December 24, 2009 Author Share #24 Posted December 24, 2009 ATS acting up That's the key word. ATS messing up.
