mark1447 Posted December 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 26, 2009 Why didn't Amtrak established itself in the State of Wyoming and South Dakota? Idk about Amtrak in Alaska via Canada to/from the USA... Every other states does have it. Except these and definitely not Hawaii..
Fred G Posted December 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 26, 2009 The California Zephyr used to traverse the southern tier of Wyoming until the 80's (???) when the route was changed to go through Denver and the Rockies. The current route is more scenic.

Brighton Local Posted December 26, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 26, 2009 Amtrak stops 3 hours north of Phoenix, AZ in Flagstaff, AZ. Its part of the Southwest Chief Route. Amtrak stopped coming into Phoenix at least 10-15 years ago I was told.
metsfan Posted December 26, 2009 Share #5 Posted December 26, 2009 There is no money to do those routes without states pitching in. - A
Nexis4Jersey Posted December 26, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 26, 2009 Will Amtrak ever go Electric on some routes outside the NE?
Fred G Posted December 26, 2009 Share #7 Posted December 26, 2009 I wonder if Amtrak would restore rail there.. But isnt there rail that connects to other states to get access to Amtrak? They probably wouldn't because it duplicates the route through CO in terms of end result and the ridership wouldn't be there. There's def rail through there as UP runs fast freight through there. DarrylR.14 Posted December 27, 2009 Share #8 Posted December 27, 2009 Will Amtrak ever go Electric on some routes outside the NE? West Coast will be next in line for electric, the question is that will the California govt. will use the money for this type of project or for something else...
