N-Trizzy2609 11 Posted January 1, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 1, 2008 It feels kinda weird with R160's R142's and R143's all having the same display, red circle and letter in the front and yellow on the sides. It kinda contradicting the color code that the subway has. I feel the displays should color match the train they run on so that people who aren't from New York wouldn't get confused and train can happily run with there color identification! Pablo M 201 35 Posted January 1, 2008 Share #2 Posted January 1, 2008 Well, if they color match with the lines, it wouldn't work out because red is easier to read when the train is coming. For example, the , yea, the color match will easily identify it, but to make sure if it is an train, they should be able to read it on the front of the train. Red gets the job done as far as clarity. As much as I like your idea I kinda agree with Pablo. Besides, I think the had exactly that in mind when they decided on it.
R1Toasty 0 Posted January 1, 2008 Share #4 Posted January 1, 2008 I think they should just have an LCD screen that displays the route in color, but the red LED sign can stay as well.
paulb 1 Posted January 1, 2008 Share #5 Posted January 1, 2008 I'd also like to see a colored sign. Variety is the spice of life you know. Besides, I'm seeing a fair amount of cars with incomplete circles around the letters. Paul

Just wanna make sure because its a trick if your talking about pictures....... Right, it seems like a refresh rate speed problem that the camera catches in between exposures. It's always visible in photos. I don't remember ever seeing it in person.
Pablo M 201 35 Posted January 2, 2008 Share #8 Posted January 2, 2008 Ya, the trick with the camera, shoot at a shutter speed of 1/125 or faster. Can see it in this photo. Now, while riding the subways, its VERY rare to see a subway car with an incomplete circle.
paulb 1 Posted January 6, 2008 Share #9 Posted January 6, 2008 I believe I've seen it in both pics and in person. I've got to download some of the pics I have. Any suggestions for a free site.

Any of the big three image hosting services are fine. My favorite is Photobucket. http://imageshack.us/ http://www.flickr.com/ http://www.photobucket.com/
sebbieprops 0 Posted January 7, 2008 Share #11 Posted January 7, 2008 I like the red displays, for clarity purposes, on the front of the train. With them, you know right away which train is coming. On the side of the train, however, I'd like to see the displays color-matched.
BMT4Life 0 Posted January 7, 2008 Share #12 Posted January 7, 2008 You can see the red fine in the tunnels but making out what route it is something else. But I like the red also.
