SD70ACe has the flair radiator then the boxy end? Why is that & vs the SD70? Is a rebuild?

Later SD70M's and MAC's also have the flair radiators all be it slightly smaller than that of the SD70ACe and M-2. Also its further back.

 

Examples: thought I would stick with the UP theme, NS has both also.

I forget the exact reason behind the change back to the flair design but apparently they figured out it was a better one.

Im not too techincal but the SD70M-2 was redsigned from the SD70M for the new EPA tier 2 and 3 standards

Oh, that's the engine, fuel flow system, piston & valve design. I believe the flared radiators are simply better at cooling and are absent on units they want for better visibility.
