gregorygrice Posted January 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2010 I was looking at Mark1447's railfan pictures (Great pics by the way! ) and saw this..... Is this an Amfleet Cab car? Can somebody clarify this for me? If anyone has any other pictures please post.
Ken S. Posted January 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2010 Looks like Corridor Clipper. It's an inspection car converted from an Amcoach. The Amfleet Cab Cars are the former Metroliner EMUs.
hoodciti Posted January 14, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 14, 2010 isnt it former Metroliner MU cab car. Amtrak removed MU components and they were converted into cab control cars for push pull service. The Amfleet cars and the Metroliners were both built by budd so the Amfleet coaches were designed with the same outward appearance of the Metroliners. It looks like an EMU because it has pantographs on it. Could that cab car pull Amfleet coaches on it's own? That would look cool. But why would they have an inspection car connected to an Amtrak passenger service train
Fred G Posted January 14, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 14, 2010 Amtrak cabs in push-pull use on the Springfield shuttle: I'm guessing they add the Clipper to regular trains so they don't run a special for it.

metsfan Posted January 14, 2010 Share #8 Posted January 14, 2010 Corridor clipper is a modified amfleet, it has no traction capability, the pantograph is for catenary survey use only. - A

hoodciti Posted January 14, 2010 Share #10 Posted January 14, 2010 Yea it is the Corridor Clipper. I realized I've seen that car before. Here it is surveying the tracks on Cape Cod for a possible return of commuter service back in 2007. Track inspection equipment
