You all are hearing about The Trouble Toyota is facing with the gas pedals.I love Japanese cars, especially toyota and to hear all of this is heartbreaking to here from a company who is known for quality and satisfaction. Now Toyota is going through a PR repair as well as Toyota and CTS Corporation( manufacturer of the defective accelerator) Are being sued by the canadian gov`t and 8 plants are being put on Idle in North America are closing for a week. The only cars not affected are cars with the vin # starting with J meaning the car was manufactured in japan, basically any Toyota built here in the U.S is affected. Can Toyota clean up this mess in time before it destroys their reputation!!!

That said, I don't think this will destroy Toyota. Most estimates say that sales drop 20% in the first few months after an incident breaks, then the sales build back up to what they were.

From a technical standpoint however, it's shocking that the onboard computer was programmed such. All VW/Audis with drive-by-wire throttle will cut the throttle in the case of the brake and accelerator being activated at the same time. In software design terms, the brake being released is a condition that must be met for the throttle to be opened up.

While i feel bad for the thousands of Toyota

customers are affected here in US and worldwide outside of Japan, you were incorrect in stating that all US based cars had to be 'affected'. My sister who owns and drives a 2002 Avalaon is not on this list.

This myth is gone forever that Japanese cars are near perfect and the best car to buy is the one well bulit that you can afford whether they bulit in the USA, Japan, Germany or even Mars.

FYI. Here the article with exact list.

I still would buy a Toyota today, Ive been driving toyotas since I learned to drive, since thats all my family buys, and they last a long time.

The only reason Toyota is taking a lot of heat is because their competion is now Government run

While i agree that i would quicker buy a Toyota than say a crapy models like Dodge/Chrsyler(only the Jeep brand is well bulit with them imo)or KIA, many of their models also now overpriced and out of reach for the working class poor Americans. For a Japan/Asian bulit car, I would strongly consider buying a Hyundai now than a Honda or Toyota because it's in my price range.

My sister owns a 2002 Avavalon.

Ditto for GM imo is still a world class car but their issue is that they never produced gas saving cars and minivans/small trucks. As a bigger guy at 6 foot 5inches tall, i fit great into a GM model.

Again the recall does not include models 2002 or earlier but the bad publicty has hurt them. Still imo not a big deal, just the media making something bigger than what it is.

Fair or not, Toyota has had it worst month sales in recent US history from the negative media reporting of its massive recall.

Ford and GM which were both down for the count little over a year ago, had their best month sales wise in at least a few years. Here story.

Your sister car wasn`t on the list because it affects the Avalons 2007-present.Japanese made toyotas such as the 4-runner,Prius and Yaris isn`t on the list.

I believe it is much more fun to drive than any other car except Nissan. Through many tests and stuff from dealer to auto show and back to dealer, I have concluded that Toyota is #2 on my fun to drive list, Nissan #1 and Lincoln #3...

No! Buy Nissan or a Ford original Brand (Including Ford, Lincoln, Mercury).

Yeah, the XLE is like better than the Lexus (Toyota's own luxury brand), Mercedes and such with the reliability and longevity of a Toyota, :P!

Well, wood trim (faux or real) + leather seats = luxurious = Camry XLE!

Yeah they are and they are not overpriced IMO, :P.

And you know this because you have a license and have tested and driven these cars and came up with your opinion? You've shopped around and compared prices and fuel economy's. Stick to riding the train.

Toyota's are the most boring cars to drive. Nothing fun about driving one. Absolutely nothing.

I don't understand why anyone would want to own a prius. It is by far one of the ugliest cars I've seen on the road. If it wasn't a hybrid, the person should be laughed at for having such an ugly car.

At least there's a cool looking electric car from Tesla motors. Now that's style.

I think the latest Prius is awsome, I'm not into that hybrid fad but its the best looking prius so far.

If I were to buy a hybrid, it would be a lexus ls600hL, thats a hot hybrid.

Nope I do not have a drivers licence yet, but I do like comfortable driving cars with nice and sleek designs, I also like their ride quality. I have been on many types and many brands of cars, I also compared prices and fuel economies as well. Well, I never actually driven them moving, but I did test out their steerings and such and I like the Toyota ones and Nissan ones the best.

You can't test the steering without driving the car.

moving it left to right at a standstill is not a test.
