snaps Posted February 3, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2010 Was just wondering if there are any way I can speed up the hiring process with metro north. I have been applying for around 13 months and I have not heard anything, I also just want to know if there is a way to just have a basic application instead of choosing radio maintainer or elevator mechanic. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
HomeBall Posted February 3, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 3, 2010 The hiring process can be slow. Unfortunately, not much can be done to speed it up. Give them a call every once in a while to check the status of your app.

Not to mention we in middle of deep recession so i think MNRR could have a semi hiring freeze as well and only hiring in jobs that need to be replaced asap. LIRR 154 Posted February 3, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 3, 2010 Thanks for the response. I have been looking for a number but couldnt find one, what number should i call? They email you first for a test date and then you will have a contact. Right now all I can tell you is to keep applying.

snaps Posted February 3, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted February 3, 2010 honestly i am looking for anything, i will be a janitor if i have too....thats where i think my problem starts for the application process. i have been applying for radio maintainer and elevator mechanic because they seem to be the only jobs available to non professionals, only thing i can offer as expertise to MNR would be land surveying but i know they are not hiring for that. Just hope to get my foot in the door and bust my butt to move forward.
Zman Posted February 4, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 4, 2010 Perseverence will eventually pay off. For me it took 5 1/2 years to get into the NYCTA. That's just the way it is with these types of jobs. It takes a long time to get in, but once you do you'll be ok.

I highly doubt that you will land a job with MNR as an elevator mechanic or radio maintainer with your expertise being a land surveyor. That might be a reason why you haven't heard a thing from them. Ticket taker?? On the railroad we call that person the conductor. You obviously don't know much about the railroad and you want to job with them? What job did your friends get and who did they know? What job did your friends get and who did they know? dont be hard on the man......you dont necessarily have to know all this railroad terminology to be a potential employee.......... snaps, good luck in your search; just keep in mind mnr may be in a hiring freeze due to budget restraints and the economy........
