I t would be nice to see something beyond "we are testing these screens for..." Yeah, you mean, "...testing these trains." Yeah, I want something else to look at on those screens. I wonder do 160s have wi-fi so information can just be sent to them, or does someone have to reprogram each one individually?
North-Eastern T/O Posted February 8, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 8, 2010 Yeah, you mean, "...testing these trains." Yeah, I want something else to look at on those screens. I wonder do 160s have wi-fi so information can just be sent to them, or does someone have to reprogram each one individually? They get a Computer pluged into them to get progem them. One computer reprograms the hole unti, A full train need to be progemed twice.
Joe C Posted February 8, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 8, 2010 well all the cars that are in 207 ether go to CIY or stay in to 207 to put the chains and the shoes on the new cars then program then with all the routes and sofware than it go to pitkin yard to test on F5 track in the rocks and when that done with the testing go's to yard and they test it for two weeks or more then it out on the road in service. All of the R160's get delivered to 207 St yard.once all the cars for a 4 or 5 car set are on property, they go to Pitkin where the chains and shoes are installed.they test the train for up to 2 weeks.after that,it's off to it's assigned yard/shop for revenue service. fishmech Posted February 8, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 8, 2010 Sorta tangential, but the PATH PA-5s do have the LCD screens inside showing a special form of NBC or something. Not sure how they do it exactly.
