Guys how are copying with this mega snowstorm?

I don't consider this a mega snowstorm, Its good to have the day off but I don't get paid for it. So everytime I hear the S word, I get aggrivated.

Plus finding a parking spot is a pain in the ass when theres snow, and all the damage the car takes with the salt on the ground. I hate snow with a passion, and I can't wait for 100' dayz.

No offense Dan and not trying to sound rude but if you 'hate' the "S' word lol being half serious so much, what about moving to Fla. or the sunbelt/california?

FYI. Forgot it snowed in Tampa, Fla area a few weeks back no joke.

My mother had a house in tampa and I tried living there and I cannot make the same money that I make here down there, I love Florida but I'm a NYC person, I'll be bored quickly.

People also say cost of living in Florida is cheaper and I don't really find that to be true, fuel and other things are almost as much as it is in the city.

Same with Houston Texas, I lived there for a few months, I loved it there so much but again what I get paid here, theres no match in Texas.

So I guess I have to deal with snow...

Dan that why my parents relocated to Southern California to live in 2-family house with my sister and my brother in law(her hubby). My mom has real bad Arthritis and with her now in age 70's(age wise)a storm/cold winter like this year would be hard for her and even my dad.

The unpredictable weather of the Northeast and Midwest is not for everyone especially seniors and those with sevre personal health problems.;) And main reason tons of former new yorkers when they are in retirement years move to places like Fla. and other warmer states.

Off topic for moment but related. While most of the Eastern and Midwest US has had a tough winter, in this bizzare 'la nina' year, on the other side of the country there been record rainfalls in California causing mudslides. Not to mention iup the Pacific Northwest in Vancouver, British Columbia in Western Canada, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics starting on Friday, it been one of the warmest winter in their recent history.

IOC and Vancouver city leaders are worried about showing a city hosting the winter games to a huge international tv audience 'no snow' at the opening cermonies.

Maybe here in Northeast/Mid Atlantic US we can show our brother/sisters in Canada 'some love' and send some of that snow back to Vancouver.

Seriously reactions to the 'la nina' winter or suspected 'climate change?"

From what I'm seeing on the Weather Channel, I'm tending to agree this is turning into a "natural disaster", at least in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia/Camden.

The Federal Government is shut down, Courts, Schools. Airports struggling. You can't even see the White House behind Mr. Mike Seidel.

Vancouver, British Columbia, where the 2010 Winter Olympics are about to start is the opposite. After a warmer than average January, Vancouver is average/seasonable to date in February. I think Miss Stephanie Abrams mentioned about 48 degrees.

As Zach mentioned, the Phoenix Metroplex is forcast to be in the 60's but we do have a small chance of rain.

I got incredibly lucky, I had requested today as a vacation day last week in order to go to some appointments. The appointments are 86'd, but at least I can stay home and stay on top of the snow so that it doesn't get out of hand.

Almost all NYC landmark and tourist sites closed today 2/10/10. The United Nations, Bronx Zoo, Central Park, NBC studios/Rockfeller Center, Empire State Buliding, NYU Columbia University among other are shut tight due to storm.

However the Rangers and Devils hockey games both at MSG and Newark are still on for tonight but subject to change.

by the way, NYC/Central park(manhattan) as of 1230pm today 2/10/10 had only 3 inches. While the outerboros, such as Bronx, Brooklyn, SI and Queens had at least 5 inches. Just few miles down in central nj as i am sure nexis can confirm it now 8-10 inches.

However a Blizzard warning for all of NYC metro area is still in effect until late tonight. at least 10 inches expected.
