TransitStop Posted February 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2010 so, yesterday i was taking photos around Dominion station. i walked down a "path" beside the parkway ( parkway is a short highway) anyways as im waiting to get pics of all the old buses comming through i see a police car come past me. i thought nothing of it anyways. right before the transitway i there is a u turn for emergency vehicles i see the cop put on his flashers a turn around me being only 15 i sorta paniced thinking i might get in trouble but then a minute or two later he comes back pulls in from of me and says any good buses out there! . bveguy Posted February 11, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2010 Don't be afraid. If taking your pictures is legal and they arrest you, enjoy your money!
Deaks Posted February 12, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 12, 2010 I was at Newark Penn Station about four or five years ago taking some pictures. After about 15 minutes a NJT policeman waddled his way across to me, and I mean he was out of breath from walking about 200 yards. 'What ya doin'?' he said even though it was obvious. Cue the usual ID bollocks. When he realised I was British he told me that because we had recently had those bombs on buses and the Underground in London I should definitely know better than to take pictures. If it had been in Britain I would have engaged him but not wanting to cause a scene in a foreign country I took his 'advice' and bailed out. TransitStop Posted February 12, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted February 12, 2010 the main problem with people like that is atleast for me i get intimidated ( sorry if i spelt that wrong ) i mean when taking photos of buses from pinecrest garage ( thats all the old buses ) i get the odd angry look from the driver and its like w/e but when someone that has a uniform on right away i get nervous and half the time if the "officer" stays in that area for a while ill just bail out hop on a bus and go somewhere else
metsfan Posted February 12, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 12, 2010 Transit folks should know we like the busses & trains etc, drawing positive attention to them, not trying to hatch some devious plot. - A
JFK 7212 Posted February 13, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 13, 2010 However most transit folks are either stupid, paranoid or have one track minds which makes them not understand that what we do is completely harmless.Best thing to do is ignore them.If they threaten you with calling the cops, stick around for it.If your not man enough then get on the next bus or train and hit the road before they come. Cait Sith Posted February 25, 2010 Share #13 Posted February 25, 2010 so, yesterday i was taking photos around Dominion station. i walked down a "path" beside the parkway ( parkway is a short highway) anyways as im waiting to get pics of all the old buses comming through i see a police car come past me. i thought nothing of it anyways. right before the transitway i there is a u turn for emergency vehicles i see the cop put on his flashers a turn around me being only 15 i sorta paniced thinking i might get in trouble but then a minute or two later he comes back pulls in from of me and says any good buses out there! . Similar situation here! So I was taking a picture of this. Took a few shots until I nailed it the way I wanted to. Then I was about to leave when he called me over. I got kinda nervous cause I NEVER got called to come up to a bus operator, other than KR when we met for the first time. I figured I would get the typical "why are you taking a picture of the bus?" type response, but instead, he asked me "How did the shot come out?" I was thrown off guard with that response! So he let me on the bus and rode with him to 14th and from there to Battery Park City. To my surprise, he was also a learning bus buff, asking me about what I know about the fleet and all that good stuff. Offered to buy me pizza and what but I refused, figured it would be kinda rude to accept that so early. End result, he gave me his phone # in case if we were to meet up again (when the weather gets better). And this!

FamousNYLover Posted April 29, 2010 Share #19 Posted April 29, 2010 Me, too. When I was taking video of how to buy/ride Bx12SBS with friend's Hitachi Digital Camera, B/O says, "You cannot take pic of bus!! It's against law because of terrorist." When MegaBus was taking break in Rest Area somewhere in Massachusetts Turnpike on March 17th, after Greyhound Bus Operator return on his bus, I try to make video of that bus, but driver ruefully say, "NO PICS! TAKE PIC OF YOUR OWN BUS!" How I was suppose to know and when I asked Greyhound Bus about photograph policy, they said it was illegal to take pic/video. To whom it may concern:When Mega Bus M22 to Boston was taking break at same rest area as Greyhound Bus on March 17th, 2010 around 10:20am. After bus operator return on his bus, I was trying to video record that bus, but bus driver ruefully opened door and came out and said , "No pic! Take pic of your own bus" and he left. I manage to get bus # before the Greyhound Bus Operator return on the bus. I was afraid and I thought he was trying to make me delete my photo/video by the force. FamousNYLover Posted April 29, 2010 Share #21 Posted April 29, 2010 Another one when I saw GoBus#28 via University Heights stop at Bloomfield Av Lightrail Station, crosswalk was too far and I jay cross 2-way street and got stuck on median and took quick pic of same GoBus#28 via University Heights as I was waiting for space to be clear, so I could cross street safe. At that moment, police officer asked me, "What hell are you doing?" I responded "I'm waiting to cross street."
buswizard Posted July 20, 2010 Share #22 Posted July 20, 2010 to revive an old thread: This one is one of my favorite reactions because the driver looked almost like Jesus Christ when he put his arms up!
