Transit Idea (Map Included)

There was proposal made in the news recently about an airtrain running along from the Woodside (7)/(7x) train stop to LGA. The airtrain would be just like the JFK airtrain and be run by the Port Authority, if not mistaken. Im not sure if it was mentioned here or not but there were also plans to extend the (N)/(W) train to LGA along Ditmars under Giuliani in the 90's but the nimbys along Ditmars crashed and burned that proposal.

Personally I think a direct subway link to an airport is ideal, don't have to change trains and pay an extra fee to ride to the airport and provides a one seat for Manhattan riders to LGA.

As for the Nostrand IRT extension, you can find it here in the old second system proposals... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proposed_New_York_City_Subway_expansion_(1929-1940)

Or dare they build a system that connects the 3 airports by subway/light rail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All they gotta do is run the newark light rail or path to ewr (preferably both), and construct an airtrain between jfk and jackson heights, then to lga, and if you wanted you could do it to woodside for lirr connection instead of jackson heights.

well for the jfk and lga connection, the (7) connects to jackson heights with the (E) so you dont need to create an airtrain from jfk to lga, if thats what your suggesting. They can just build an LRT airtrain from jackson heights or woodside to LGA. Idk about any plans about the path connecting to ewr, but i know they're proposals of making a direct airtrain connection from jfk airtrain to downtown manhattan along the Atlantic avenue ROW, but require to build a new tunnel under the east river in this project, if im not mistaken.

I think they should do what they need to safely and efficiently connect the 3 area airports. The light rail idea is good, less chance of NIMBY spoiling it vs elevated. As for tunnel to midtown, sure why not. Just takes money. With rising airport traffic beginning to be a burden on the subway & busses the PANYNJ in conjunction with NJ and NY governments, maybe some federal money too, get the connections built with room to grow in the future.

The Airtrain would work better because they would need way more trains and the community didn't support the train expansion for some stupid reason.
