kaback9 Posted March 2, 2009 Share #52 Posted March 2, 2009 Don't know rumor has it Amtrak has tacked on to the order as well. The sooner these guys show up the sooner they can get those ALP44's in for a much needed rebuild.

Exciting that amtk will have them, make stuff a lil more interesting and a lot more reliable. I wonder if the traction system will get refreshed with new of the same, or totally new stuff on the 44's...... - A
kaback9 Posted March 2, 2009 Share #54 Posted March 2, 2009 The 44's will probably get a new traction motor and some other systems don't know to much about whats planned.

I am very interested in what will be happening to them. My favorite (NJT) electric is the 46, however, the 44's are fun to see, and they seem very good at the single level consists. Do you think they will be able to pull more than ~5 multilevels after the rebuild based on what you know? The alp-45dm... do you think they will start out in hoboken or newark division? - A
kaback9 Posted March 3, 2009 Share #56 Posted March 3, 2009 Not sure what the plan for how much pulling capacity the 44's will have when rebuilt. As for the 45's until ARC is built I'm sure will see them going into Hoboken. They may try a few on sets in and out of NYP.
