Meh...send them to Yukon. I'd rather ride an LFS than a NG heading home on the S79.

Yukon already has a decent set of buses. They were 2nd in line to get new buses and I doubt they are in line to get anymore, anytime soon except for the possible express bus order.

That only depends on whether or not the brakes are new. Keep in mind that the RTS is heavy, and hard on brakes. But the NG's can get loud too. It all depends on how long maintenance keeps an old set on before they replace them. But I could never ever get tired of riding the RTS!

I agree, no bus can beat the VR-731 transmission and the history it holds!

They both could use a lot of new buses.

The way I see it it should (I know it won't) be like this...

1. Ulmer Park

2. Fresh Pond

3. Queens Village

4. East New York

Noooooooooooooo!!!!! More new buses at ENY means pushing the RTS' out. We're already down to about 130! I can't take it anymore!

ENY can have JAM's lol. I really like LFS's. I doubt JAM will get anything since it just got 70 NG's. However anything is possible since a number of depots still have 1994-96 buses.

Ulmer Park & Queens Village should get next.

They can bring them all over here then!!

All the 1994, & 1995 buses are pretty much retired now. With the exception of about 90 Orions. And more than 80 of those are ex-Bee Line buses.

Lmao that's why they're at the bottom of my list. They got 2 batches of OGs but still got a bunch of RTSs still clinging to life. The 4900s & 5000s there still got some time left in them but the others are looking at death in the face ;)

I want to clear things up about MTA's LFS Artics.

They are NOT equipped with the ZF EcoLife due to these following reasons:

-The structure of the bus is not made for the EcoLife; EcoLife Novas have a different structure.

-They are obviously have EPA 2007 Cummins due to this very BIG exhaust pipe; newer Novas with EcoLife have a "thinner" pipe and a shorter emission reducer.

Here are some photos for comparison:

No they are EcoLife, they have been set up differently so they sound similar to the Ecomat. Either way it's Cummins and ZF. MTA has been toying around with the transmissions, especially the 128x.

WRONG!

These buses ARE equipped with Cummins/ZF Ecolife. The buses you just showed us are spec'd differently to the other buses. Our buses were based on the LFX look, the ones you just showed us are not even close to ours. This does have a ZF Ecolife. Voith & Allison transmissions have different sounds setup & gear ratios to them and there's no way we'd have a bus with a Voith Transmission, Allison Transmissions on the LFS series sounds more different compared to other buses. And for your information, ZF gearboxes, especially with the Eco-Life are smaller so they can be built perfectly into these buses. Even on one of NovaBus's releases & MTA's releases from a while back stated that these buses were mated with a ZF Eco-life transmission.

LEGIT PROOF seen here seen here

2010 NovaBus LFS Artic from Société de transport de Montréal (STM) with Cummins ISL & ZF.

OUR 2010 Novabus LFS Articulateds with close to the same transmission

An LFS Articulated with a Voith Transmission on the outside

And now one with a ZF

Feel free to let me make you look more dumb that you already sound, not all buses are the same you know.

Not joining the debate about what transmissions they have, but a little note....

Please know what exactly you are comparing when making an argument. What you just compared is a supposed Ecolife equipped Nova (MTA artic) to a non Ecolife equipped Nova (STM Artic - EPA 2007 so they use 6HP604) claiming they sound the same.

I'm rather curious what you think the difference is mechanically between a LFS and a LFX, as you seem to imply in your reply. They look different on the outside, but they are identical mechanically.

Last, I don't know what you were trying to prove by comparing against Voith and Allison, or if you just mistook what AlexLy was trying to say, that they could have ZF but not the Ecolife.

It's not the best to go by sounds, because there are too many factors that can affect it - vehicle configuration, operating condition, etc.

Quite frankly, this debate is getting tiring. What exactly have we proven other than speculation and hearsay? What exactly is posting bus drawings going to prove in the context (AlexLy) Do we really have nothing better to do than fight over a transmission?

And a few general notes. Just because a press release says something does not mean it's true. Just because a bus was built in 2010 does not mean it is EPA 2010 compliant. Any bus that is more than 50% complete before August 1, 2010 can be built under the EPA 2007 design.

Quote 1: I never compared the sound.

Quote 2: I'll try to ask someone that has already posted a photo of a real LFSA with ZF EcoLife (I'm talking about the structure).

Quote 3: That's one of the reasons why I posted about MTA's LFSA's.
